Stan began his career with a degree in Electrical Engineering, later enrolling in law school. After decades in small business development, management and financial consulting, he pursued a seminary degree, obtaining an MA in Theological Studies and a Ph.D. in Theology.

Moody is an ordained American Baptist pastor in Central Maine, serving in pulpit ministry for 25 years. He has served in the Maine State Legislature in both political parties and as a Chaplain at the maximum-security Maine State Prison (MSP).

Since leaving MSP, Moody has become an advocate for prison reform, writing for several daily and weekly newspapers. He has been an advisory board member of a number of national prisoner advocacy agencies. He is a prolific writer on the impact of the Christian Right on national politics and has spoken at several national forums.

Moody’s published books include, “Crisis in Evangelical Scholarship”, “McChurched”, “Following Jesus into Our Jails and Prisons” and, most recently, “Finding Our Way Home”.

Barbara has over 38 years of experience in the field of education in Maine. She started out as a special education teacher for grades K-8, and held that position for 17 years. During that time, Barbara also served as a school consultant administering psycho-educational evaluations for children. Barbara founded and directed a middle school for the arts after her public school career. From there, she served as the coordinator of professional development funding at the Maine Department of Education for seven years.

Understanding the importance of teaching excellence, Barbara went on to chair the School of Education at Husson University for 8 years. Barbara then served as the Director of Child & Family Services at Midcoast Maine Community Action. 

Barbara has raised four children with her husband, Stan, in Manchester, ME. She has a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from St. Michael’s College in Winooski, VT, a Master’s degree in Special Education from the University of Alaska, and a Ph.D. in Education from the University of Maine.
